How to subscribe

One tap on most devices. If a button does nothing on your device, copy the .ics link and add it as a calendar "from URL".

iPhone, iPad and Mac

  1. Tap "Apple & Outlook" on a calendar below.
  2. Confirm "Subscribe" in the prompt.
  3. Choose where it lives (iCloud) and tap "Add". Done: it refreshes on its own.

Google Calendar and Android

  1. Click "Google Calendar" on a calendar below (sign in if asked).
  2. Click "Add" on the "Add calendar from URL" screen.
  3. It appears under "Other calendars" on the web and syncs to the Android app. Google refreshes subscriptions roughly once a day.

Outlook

  1. New Outlook or Outlook.com: tap "Apple & Outlook" and confirm.
  2. If that opens nothing, copy the link under "Download .ics", then in Outlook choose Add calendar, then Subscribe from web, and paste it.
  3. Classic desktop Outlook: Open Calendar, then From Internet, and paste the link.

What is in the feeds, and how they stay right

Benefit deposits are all-day events named for the benefit ("CPP payment", "OAS payment", "CCB payment"), with the paying agency and a link to the page that explains the amount. Bank of Canada decisions are timed for 9:45 a.m. Eastern, the CPI release for 8:30 a.m. Eastern, and your calendar converts both to your own time zone. The "Everything" feed also carries the quarterly OAS adjustment, the January CPP increase and new TFSA room, the RRSP contribution deadline and the April 30 and June 15 filing deadlines, each with the rule it comes from.

Nothing in a feed is estimated. Every date is read each morning from the page that sets it, so next year's schedule appears the day Service Canada or the Bank posts it, and a date the agency moves is moved here too. Calendar apps refresh a subscription on their own cycle, typically between a few hours and a day, so a change can take up to a day to reach your phone.

If you would rather just see the dates, every feed has a page: CPP payment dates, OAS payment dates and this quarter's amounts, every government benefit on one page, Bank of Canada decision dates and the 90-day key-dates list. Official releases are also available as an RSS feed.

Frequently asked questions

How do I add CPP payment dates to my phone calendar?

Tap "Apple & Outlook" on the CPP calendar above (on an iPhone, iPad or Mac) and confirm "Subscribe". On Android, open the Google Calendar link, sign in, and click "Add" on the "Add calendar from URL" screen; the calendar then syncs to the Google Calendar app on your phone. The dates appear as all-day events, and new ones arrive on their own.

Will the 2027 CPP and OAS dates be added automatically?

Yes. Service Canada usually posts the next year's schedule in late autumn. RetireSmarter reads that calendar every morning, so the 2027 dates are added to the feed the day they are published, and your calendar app picks them up on its next refresh (usually within a day). Nothing is estimated in the meantime.

Is this free? Do I have to sign up?

Free, no account, no email, and the feeds carry no tracking. A calendar subscription is a plain file your calendar app fetches from retiresmarter.ca on a schedule; we see only an anonymous request for the file.

What is the difference between subscribing and downloading the .ics file?

Subscribing (the Apple & Outlook or Google Calendar buttons) keeps the calendar updated: new dates appear automatically. Downloading the .ics file imports the dates once, as fixed events; you would need to download it again next year. Subscribe unless you only want a one-time copy.

Which benefits are included?

CPP (including CPP disability and survivor benefits), OAS (including GIS, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor), the Canada child benefit, the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (the renamed GST/HST credit), the Ontario trillium benefit, the Canada Disability Benefit, the advanced Canada workers benefit, the Alberta child and family benefit and the Veterans Affairs disability pension. Each has its own calendar, and "All government benefits" combines them.

What time do the Bank of Canada events show?

Rate announcements are timed events at 9:45 a.m. Eastern, which your calendar converts to your own time zone. Monetary Policy Report days run longer to cover the press conference. Benefit deposits are all-day events because the money usually posts overnight.

Can I get this as an RSS feed instead?

The official releases on the news page are available as RSS at https://www.retiresmarter.ca/news/feed.xml, and the blog at https://www.retiresmarter.ca/blog/feed.xml. Key dates are calendar feeds only.

Dates are read from the agencies' published schedules and refreshed daily. They are provided for information only; your own payment depends on your entitlement and on direct deposit versus cheque.
