Didn't get your OAS or GIS payment?
- Check the date. Deposits land on the dates above, usually overnight; a weekend or holiday can move the date, which this page already reflects. Some banks post government deposits late in the day.
- Direct deposit: allow one full business day after the date, and confirm with your bank that nothing changed on their side (a closed or renumbered account is the usual cause). Cheque: allow 10 business days for Canada Post before reporting it.
- Look in My Service Canada Account. It shows the payment issued, the amount, where it was sent, and any notice that paused it (an unfiled tax return, a review, or an address that bounced). Sign in.
- Then call Service Canada: 1-800-277-9914 (TTY 1-800-255-4786), weekdays. Have your SIN ready. A missing cheque can be traced and reissued; a deposit sent to a closed account is returned and re-sent once you update your banking.
Not on direct deposit yet? Sign up with Service Canada so the money is in your account on the date, including over the holidays.
How much OAS pays this quarter: October to December 2026

How OAS payment dates are set
Service Canada pays Old Age Security on the third-to-last business day of each month — the same rule, and the same calendar, as the Canada Pension Plan. Because the rule depends on weekends and statutory holidays, the exact date drifts between roughly the 22nd and the 29th, and December is paid early so the money lands before the holidays. If you get both OAS and CPP, they arrive the same day as two separate deposits.
OAS is a taxable monthly pension paid to most Canadians from age 65 whether or not they ever worked, based on years of residence in Canada. The Guaranteed Income Supplement is a tax-free top-up for lower-income OAS recipients, and it rides along in the same deposit. You can delay OAS up to age 70 for 0.6% more per month of delay (36% at 70), which our CPP and OAS timing guide walks through.
Why the amount changes four times a year
Unlike CPP, which is adjusted once each January, OAS and GIS are re-indexed to the Consumer Price Index every January, April, July and October. Amounts can rise in any quarter but never fall — if prices drop, the benefit is held flat. That is why the table above carries a quarter label rather than a year. Service Canada posts the new figures a few days before each quarter begins; this page pulls them in automatically.
Direct deposit vs cheque
With direct deposit, the payment is in your account on the dates listed, usually overnight. A mailed cheque can take several extra business days and depends on Canada Post. You can switch to direct deposit through your My Service Canada Account, and it is worth doing before the December payment, when mail is slowest.

Frequently asked questions
When is the next OAS payment in 2026?
The next Old Age Security payment is Wednesday, October 28, 2026. OAS is deposited once a month on the same day as CPP — the third-to-last business day — and every 2026 date is in the table above with the next one highlighted.
What are the OAS payment dates for 2026?
The 2026 OAS payment dates are January 28, February 25, March 27, April 28, May 27, June 26, July 29, August 27, September 25, October 28, November 26, December 22. The Guaranteed Income Supplement, the Allowance and the Allowance for the Survivor are paid on the same days.
When will the 2027 OAS payment dates be published?
Service Canada usually posts the next year's CPP and OAS schedule in late autumn on its benefits payment calendar. This page checks that calendar every day and adds the 2027 dates automatically the day they appear — nothing here is estimated.
Are OAS and CPP paid on the same day?
Yes. Service Canada deposits Old Age Security and the Canada Pension Plan on the same date each month. If you receive both, they arrive together, though as two separate deposits.
Is the GIS paid on the same day as OAS?
Yes. The Guaranteed Income Supplement is added to your OAS pension and arrives in the same deposit on the same date. The Allowance and Allowance for the Survivor (for 60- to 64-year-olds) follow the same schedule.
What day of the month is OAS deposited?
There is no fixed calendar day. OAS lands on the third-to-last business day of each month, so it moves with weekends and statutory holidays — usually between the 22nd and the 29th, and a few days earlier in December because of the Christmas holidays.
How much is the OAS payment right now?
For October to December 2026, the maximum OAS pension is $762.50 per month at ages 65 to 74 and $838.75 per month at 75 and over (the 10% boost for those 75+). You receive the full amount only with 40 years of Canadian residence after age 18 and net income below the clawback threshold; shorter residence means a partial pension.
When does OAS go up next?
OAS is indexed to the Consumer Price Index four times a year — in January, April, July and October — so it never goes a full year without an adjustment (CPP adjusts only in January). The October to December 2026 amounts rose 1.4% from the previous quarter and 3% over the past year. The next adjustment takes effect with the January to March 2027 payments; Service Canada publishes those amounts shortly before the quarter starts, and this page updates automatically when they appear.
What is the OAS clawback threshold?
If your net world income for 2025 was above $93,454, 15 cents of every dollar over that is recovered from your OAS as a monthly recovery tax. The pension is fully clawed back once income reaches $152,062 (ages 65 to 74) or $157,923 (75 and over). Run your own numbers in the OAS clawback calculator.
When is the December 2026 OAS payment?
Tuesday, December 22, 2026 — earlier than the usual last-week pattern because of the holidays. CPP and GIS are paid the same day. The first 2027 payment will appear here the day Service Canada publishes the 2027 schedule.
My OAS payment did not arrive. What should I do?
With direct deposit the money is in your account on the payment date, usually by early morning. A mailed cheque can take several business days longer. If a direct deposit is more than one business day late, confirm nothing has changed on your bank side, then contact Service Canada through your My Service Canada Account or its pensions line.
Dates and amounts on this page are read from Service Canada's published calendar and payment tables and refreshed daily. They are provided for information only and are not financial advice; your own entitlement depends on your residence history and income.
